  • Manage marketing efforts for a nonprofit aging council to build awareness for critical programs and services for more than 13,000 individuals navigating the aging lifecycle

Jennifer founded Petterson PR LLC in 2018 to bring her passions and deep experience together in a way that combines high-level vision, strategic program development and execution for brands, corporations and nonprofits. Petterson PR provides health and wellness communications consulting for people and pets with specialized experience in animal health & welfare, food & nutrition, healthy aging and oral health.

Jennifer has 25+ years of experience working at the world’s best-known agencies including Edelman and Grey Advertising. A strategic integrated marketing expert, she thrives on developing long-lasting relationships and helping brands tell their story and actively engage with multiple stakeholders across social, owned, earned, and paid channels.

Just prior to starting Petterson PR, she served as an executive vice president, global client leader managing Edelman’s relationship with Mars in 30+ countries. She led teams in corporate reputation, internal communications, public affairs, crisis, brand marketing, digital, social and research for Mars and its business segments: Petcare, Confectionery and Food. Through that work, she increased Edelman revenue by 84%, grew the business from 8 to 30+ countries (across Asia, Europe, U.S. and Latin America) and built a cohesive team with 120+ colleagues across the world.

Jennifer has led high-profile programs for big brands and corporations such as Mars, Curves, Mars Wrigley Confectionery, Brown-Forman Beverages, Kimberly-Clark, Bayer, Kraft and PetSmart. And, she has supported smaller local and regional based nonprofits to help them rebrand, identify new channels of communications, connect with unexpected partners, fundraise and become more targeted and effective at telling their story. 

Throughout her career, she's been known as a results-oriented and hands-on practitioner -- creating and directing consumer education campaigns, introducing iconic consumer products, managing citizenship initiatives, organizing national sponsorships and local events, managing social and digital media, and counseling on issues management. 

Her success and creativity have won top honors including a PRSA Bronze Anvil and Silver Anvil Awards of Excellence, IABC Golden Worlds, Publicity Club of Chicago’s Elynore D. Meserow Creativity Award and dozens of Golden and Silver Trumpet Awards. 

Jennifer is accredited by the Public Relations Society of America (APR from PRSA) and has spent 35 years living and working in the U.S. Born and raised in Canada, she is a journalism graduate from Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario. She lives in the Chicago area with her husband, two sons and rescue dog.
